This article describes the major features added, and any change made, to the Timeline Weather API. None of the changes in this article break backwards compatibility. For full details of the Timeline Weather API, please see the API documentation.
2025 – Q1
- New APIs to allow programmatic modification, submission and data downloading of stored datasets.
- Ability to include different date and time ranges per locations in stored datasets.
- Additional historical data directly loaded from Meteo France for French locations.
2024 – Q4
- Ability to include sub-hourly data in the Timeline Weather API with minute intervals.
2024 – Q3
- Ability to include radar precipitation data directly into the datasets to provide radar based precipitation amount and intensity estimates.
- Multiple location support in the Timeline Weather API moved from beta status to full support.
2024 – Q2
- Reimplementation of weather alerts for the United States, Canada and European continent to improve the speed of availability and improve geographical accuracy when the weather server provider includes geometry-based alerts.
- Air Quality data in the Timeline Weather API moved from beta status to full support.
2024 – Q1
- Expanded historical data for the Advanced solar elements and wind elements back to January 1st 2015.
- Expanded historical data for the Advanced agricultural elements back to January 1st 2015.
- Release of updated maritime wave and swell data with historical data back to January 1st 2015.
2023 – Q4
- Beta release of updated maritime wave and swell data with historical data back to January 1st 2015.
- Multiple location support in the Timeline Weather API

- Release of new UV index forecast data.

- Release of new Air Quality data including both US AQI and European AQI
- Improvements to moon phase and other astronomical elements.

- Expanded weather forecast model support including GDPS, ICON D2, HRRR sub hourly.

- Expanded bulk query download and schedule to improve performance and support new energy, agricultural and historical forecast queries.

- Release of agricultural and soil elements, degree days and evapotranspiration.

- Release of expanded solar energy elements including historical data from 2020 onwards. Elements include direct normal, diffuse normal, global horizontal and global tilt radiation
- Release of higher elevation wind elements at 50, 80 and 100 meters height.
- Increased weather forecast model resolution to 2km

- Support for historical forecast – request weather forecasts that were created in the past.
- Degree Days in the Timeline Weather API – include growing degree days, heating degree days and cooling degree days in the API response.
